Hello…on a straight line!
Gather here for my April Dump
Wagwannnn homeboys and girliess! Before I asked you how April was. Let me ask you something: How's your mind and where’s your heart at lately? The questions are intentional because sometimes, how we look on certain days differs from where our mind or heart is. So write to me.
Back to the first question. How did April go for you? I'd really like to hear what happened and what you've been up to. Except for relationship people, btw. You people can geddifok.
I think April was such an interesting month(both good and bad). I spent money on myself, which was really exciting. I realised I'm such a dangerous man when money touches my hand. I can't wait to be madly rich. I also made some “If I perish, I perish” decisions, and I actually perished. Chineke God. “What doesn't kill you makes you stronger.” Omo, what doesn't kill you fit make you ment. But still, I had some great moments.
But April was a moment where I got to spend time with my loved ones. As much as I enjoy solitude, I saw how much I enjoyed spending time with family and friends. And this is a moment to thank you for seeing me on my birthday. The heartfelt messages, personal emails written to me, and the kindest people who reached out via WhatsApp (I honestly didn't expect it). I'm still trying to get used to being loud and excited about birthdays, but having people around you who carry your birthday on their heads is such a beautiful thing.
April was a month when I intentionally spent time outside with friends. You know how I talked about side quests in my last letter? April was when I took it a bit seriously. And The Gathering on 100 was one of those moments for me. Everything about the event was top-notch. But seriously, what was really their budget?! From the marketing alone, they had everyone in a chokehold.
But it was super fun. First off, you people didn't tell me how hard it is to bring people together. Because why were my friends vexed that they got there before me?
Anyway, I got there in time. And we played lots of games. You know how they said what a man can do, a woman can do better? Omo, that's how it was with all the games we played; the girls were beating the boys. More like we allowed them, sha. Emmanuel and I tried playing the car race, but it looked like it was their lucky day because they beat both of us to win. Anyways, we live to fight another day.
The VR games were another highlight. That thing is not for the weak. But guess what? I prevailed! At least I won in that. All I needed was to channel my hatred for Tinubu to win the boxing match. Later, we all went to see Michael Jackson’s biopic, Michael. Guyss, that movie was everything. And Jafaar Jackson was a stunner. He was possessed by MJ, no doubt. But before we watched the movie, we sang karaoke, which my friend Susan volunteered to go first and told the organisers that we were her backups. In front of everyone?! Anyways, we sang “We Are The World,” and won money for it. Up Women!
As someone who has adored MJ since I was a child, it was really beautiful watching the film. Brought back memories. Afterwards, we went to take more pictures, I got food because I can't die and saw a couple of other friends. Can you believe this, my guy brought his partner and they were doing couple goals with sip and paint? Nonsenseee.
He was the one who took this, btw. That's why I'm hating
Anyway, it's really fun. I was too tired to stay overnight for the DJ and party. Plus I needed to take my friends kids home. But the moments I spent during the day were memorable. Omo, sorry to people outside Lagos. Because you really missed. But if you contribute just 50k each, I'll tell you what The Gathering is up to next. Please donate to this life-changing cause. Thanks.
April was also when I worked on two big projects. Sometimes you really don't know who's watching. Just keep showing up. Remember, a moving man will surely meet his luck.
Other things I did in April? Binged watched some of my favourite shows like Invincible and The Boys. Met new people from Substack, journaled, read, procrastinated, and used my savings to save myself.
I want to try as much as possible to be present this May. Talk more with friends. Try things. My next plan is to engage in the side quests with my friends. I also want to work and make more money, so plug me into opportunities. Xoxo.
If April wasn't the best month, I hope you don't lose hope in May. Hang in tight. There are years that ask questions, and there are years that answer.
Please comment or write back to me. I hope to write more, too.
Love and Magic,
Damdam.

I spent most of April preparing for an exam, reading books, crying, going to work and sleeping
This was a beautiful read!
I've learnt my lessons. when you get to the venue, I'll leave my house.
